What Is the Board of Interior Design?
The Professional Regulatory Board of Interior Design is the government body, operating under the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), that oversees the licensure and practice of interior design in the Philippines. Created under Republic Act No. 10350 (the Philippine Interior Design Act), the Board sets the standards for the profession — from administering the Licensure Examination for Interior Designers (LEID) to regulating who may legally use the title "Interior Designer" in the country. It is administered over three consecutive days.
Passing the LEID is a required step for anyone who wants to practice interior design professionally in the Philippines. It tests not only design creativity but also technical knowledge — space planning, building codes, materials, and project management — ensuring that licensed interior designers are equipped to protect public safety and uphold professional standards. Because the exam is rigorous and closely tied to how well a school prepares its students, passing rates are often seen as a strong indicator of an institution's academic quality.
